Getting ready for vacation…
It’s that time of year again…another Laughlin trip! Only this time we are having our Delaney family reunion + John’s family! So far our total is 54 attending. We leave on Saturday Aug 4th and coming home on Friday Aug 10th…so stay tune for some pictures. 
Our visit to Arizona (again)
We take one big trip a year and several small ones if we are lucky. This year we are beyond lucky! We are blessed. We’ve been to Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Phoenix (several times!!)
We expected this trip but didn’t know when it would happen. We traveled back to Arizona there to participate in a special public ceremony. When you love someone with your heart, it isn’t necessary to to be related. You are already related in the most important way. However, an opportunity presented itself and the judge who presided over the ceremony said it best: “we put on paper what has been fact for 26 years.” July 12, 2007, John Michael Barr became John Michael Couch on paper because he and Dave are already related in Chuck’s heart.
The day was exciting on several additonal layers. The crowd at the courthouse provided a glimpse of human life we don’t often (thank goodness) get to see. Secondly, it was the very last case of the attorney John used was going to be handling. She was retiring. It was also exciting because I got to drive a quad runner AND go to my first Pub Crawl. However, being the DD, I did not do any crawling…and let me tell you, it isn’t easy driving in the Phoenix area..drunk or sober. Thank goodness John was able to direct me back to Peoria. Nicole had left directions but it wouldn’t have helped. There is a lot of road construction going on .

Our New Toys
“What did you get now???” Hearing that from several people has been quite funny for us. We are the king and queen of getting new somethings. Our answer to that is just this…. “We are living our lives to the fullest. Once we have kids…there’s no turning back”.
So, what you all have been waiting for… We are now officially quad owners!!!! We went out riding for the first time this past weekend. John and I got matching quads, helmets and gloves. We are not usually the matching couple but it just seemed right to get matching everything. (Vickie would be happy to hear that we matched). So Saturday morning we packed a lunch with a ton of water and got on the quads and went on a little adventure. We were told that if we went down Jomax (a road by our house), we would be able to follow the trails up to Lake Pleasant. Well, John and I weren’t so successful…we kept running into the fence (not literally) but the fence surrounded the reservoir. We couldn’t figure out how to get passed it… 4 hours later we headed back home with a ton of dirt all over us and a disappointing first experience. We jumped in the pool once we got back and a cloud of dirt came off of us…thank goodness for our filtering system! The next day we were determined to figure out how to get passed the reservoir, a couple MacGuver moves and we were successful!! It only took us 2 hours to get passed the reservoir. We were so excited!! I think I was more excited then John, I couldn’t even sleep last night because all I wanted to do was go jump on the quad and see if it went to Lake Pleasant.
